On a beautiful December 22nd morning, former Governor Pat Quinn along with Melrose Park Mayor Ron Serpico and Bellwood Mayor Frank Pasquale cut a ribbon which opened the long awaited 25th Avenue Railroad Overpass between Lake Street and St. Charles Road. Bellwood Mayor Frank Pasquale claimed it to be the “Miracle on 25th Avenue” because it was built in the face of long odds. Mayor Ron Serpico stated,“This project, will benefit all area residents by serving as a conduit for economic development, quicker emergency vehicle response times and a safer traffic flow. This is much more than a railroad overpass. This is a bridge to a better quality of life for our communities.”
