Veterans Park District provides recreational facilities to the community through parks, field houses, and special facilities. Offers year-round recreational activities from tots to senior citizens. The district provides: 5 hall rentals and meeting rooms, 10 baseball diamonds, 2 softball diamonds, 3 lighted ice rinks, 5 multi-use playgrounds, 2 jogging areas, 2 wading pools, 1 outdoor pool and water slide, 1 indoor basketball court, 4 outdoor basketball courts, 4 picnic areas, 1 aerobics room, 1 exercise room, 1 bocci ball court, 2 pre-schools, sledding hill, 7 racquetball courts and field house, 12 lighted tennis courts and a sports museum. The District serves: Melrose Park, East of 25th Avenue; Northlake, except South of North Avenue and East of Wolf Road; Franklin Park, South of Grand Avenue; River Grove, South of Grand Avenue and West of River Road; and Leyden Township, South of Grand Avenue.
