Village Requirements for Residential Occupancies

Dwellings shall be provided with heating facilities capable of maintaining a room temperature of 68 degrees F (20 degrees C) in all habitable rooms, bathrooms, and toilet rooms based on the winter outdoor temperature for the locality indicated in Appendix D of the International Plumbing Code. Cooking appliances shall not be used to provide space heating to meet the requirements of this section.

G.F.I. outlets required in all bathrooms, kitchen, outside outlets, laundry rooms, and garage - remove all other outlets.

Smoke detectors required in all hallways and on ceiling near bedrooms and laundry rooms.

Outlets must be three-prong and all outlets and switches must be covered properly and in good working order.

All buildings must have the proper electrical service with circuit breakers and proper riser.

All downspouts must run freely onto property, not into sewers.

All sidewalks must be in good condition, upon discretion of building commissioner and inspectors.

General condition of building and property must be in good condition upon discretion of building commissioner and inspectors.

All hallways to be kept clear for emergency services and kept in a presentable manner (cleaned and painted).

All laundry rooms to be furnished with a 10 lb. fire extinguisher (multiple dwellings, three apartments or more).
